Thanks to Andrew for directing me toward Helvetireader, a total UI makeover for Google Reader. The interface is gorgeous and clean, and it makes browsing and managing multiple feeds a hell of a lot easier. The red color is a nice touch, too.

Today we made our first major improvement to the new house. We replaced the old, rickety, lead-covered, patio doors with new Anderson doors and windows with brushed nickel fixtures from Home Depot.

The Home Depot install crew arrived at around 9 and was finished with the whole project by 3:30. They framed out the whole opening, installed two new doors and two new windows with french grills, and screens for every piece. The screens are the best part, as both the inner and outer set of the old doors were glass, and the side windows were screwed shut! We went from having no screens, to our choice of either door, window, or both.

The 2-person install crew did a great job. They paid attention to detail and cleaned up everything when they were done. Kudos to Home Depot’s “Home Services” progam — they did a great job!

This and the rest of the pics in this set were taken the weekend of Sept. 5th. Lisa and I had a “do-over” of our original 4-year anniversary because we failed to do anything cool on the actual date (July 9th).

This weekend was great. To sum it up, I have created a “thumbs-up, thumbs-down” based on what we encountered on our mini-vacation:

Thumbs-Up: Hotel SAX, Martinis, “16″ at the Trump Tower, Surf & Turf, cheese flights, walking to all of our destinations, Chicago, 42″ Plasma TV in room, the weather, the building that houses the Modern Wing at the Art Institute

Thumbs-Down: “Crimson” lounge at the Hotel SAX, Martinis, people asking me for money every 10 yards, scrubs who dress they they are at a frat party at nice restaurants, Metra Commuter Fai- I mean Rail, king beds that sink in the middle, 99% of the exhibits IN the Modern Wing of the Art Institute – video of a guy dressed as a clown taking a shit is not art, neither is a framed black rectangle. I’m sorry.

Fishing Trip to Cable, WI.

I recently went on a long weekend fishing trip with my dad, cousin, and nephew. We went to Four Seasons Resort in Cable, WI. (near Hayward). Unfortunately the fishing was not very good, hence the lack of fish pictures. I had a great time though, the lodge and cabin were nice, and it was good to get out of work for a few days!
